18 Months and Soccer

Ryan had his 18 month appointment last week.  He weighed 27 lbs (70-75%) and is 32.5 inches (70-75%) tall.  He also had a nasty cold (possibly RSV) with fever and had to do breathing treatments for a while.  He is much better now.

Ryan has added several new words to his vocabulary:  ouch, baby, outside, cheese, down, milk, Jackson, there, peek a boo, go, hi, G, mine, and please.  I feel like he's becoming such a big boy now.  No more baby!  Now when you ask him questions he shakes his head yes or no.  His little personality is really shining through now.  He is seriously such a little cutie.

I think we need to work on table manners...

I love to watch him deep in concentration.

Jackson on picture day.  I thought I'd get a quick picture before sending him off to school since he was likely to mess up his hair before pictures were taken.

In other exciting news, Jackson started soccer.  He only had two practices before the first game.  Here is a synopsis of how the practices went:  first 20 min. - Jackson runs around like crazy, kicking the ball, totally doing his own thing, having a blast; second 20 min. - Jackson does a lot of standing around with his hands in his hair, not really listening and sort of doing what the rest of the kids are doing but he's losing steam; last 20 min. - Jackson stands there and cries because he's so tired.

A few pictures from the first practice.

He had his first game today.  We really weren't sure what to expect.  We just encouraged him to have fun and try not to cry.  We were pleasantly surprised by how well it went after the first few minutes.

Practicing with coach before the game.  Jackson is #4.

Jackson scores a goal....during practice when they are going one at a time.

The game has officially started and I'm worried.  Jackson is just standing there with his hands in his hair.  (The rest of the kids are at the other end of the field playing soccer.)

After 2 minutes he decided to give this soccer thing a try.  Yea!!!  He ran around with his teammates and even kicked the ball 2 or 3 times.  We were SO excited.  Who cares that he pretty much accidentally kicked the ball!  He had fun and participated and was excited about it so I was really happy.   G and Dada came to his game and we went to Chick Fil A for lunch to celebrate.

A lot of his teammates have played before and you could really tell.  Jackson is still getting a hang of it but I think it's going to turn out to be a fun season.  And hopefully he will get out some of his endless energy!
