Summer Is Coming!!!

Jackson tried out his summer swim suit for the first time on Memorial Day at Aunt Anne and Uncle Brandy's house. The water was a little cold but he still seemed to enjoy it. Mumsey got Jackson a fun little pool for the yard this summer. I think we are going to give it a try tomorrow.

Jackson is becoming quite the little dare devil and LOVES to go outside. He is constantly pointing out the window. Here he is climbing on his push car.

Today Jackson got his summer haircut. He looks like such a big boy!

Jackson is taking a lot of steps on his own now. He can take up to ten steps or so before he falls. He's also starting to initiate the walking on his own without realizing what he's doing. It won't be long before he's off and running!

What have we been up to?

Eating lots of yummy food and making messes!

We went to the park on Sunday. The weather was beautiful.

Then we came home and played on the back porch.

Jackson has taken several steps on his own. He will take two or three and then fall into us or sit down. I don't think it will be too much longer until he's walking!

He is starting to watch and mimic a lot! He combs his hair, tries to put on sunglasses or a hat, tries to re-buckle the car seat latch when we get him out, tries to talk on the phone, etc. He is pointing and grunting for things he wants.

I really feel like he's talking a little more since he's gotten the tubes. We go back tomorrow for our follow up appointment.

Jackson still only has 2 teeth! Is that normal? I hope so!

Mother's Day Baby Shower

We threw a baby shower on Mother's Day weekend for my dear friend, Amanda. She will be having a baby boy in July. It was so much fun to shower her with as much love as she's always shown us. She is going to be a fabulous mom! The baby boy's room will be decorated in a sock monkey theme. So fun!

After the shower, friends and family had dinner at Rudy's. This is the best picture I could get of the boys. Do you realize how difficult it is to get a picture of 4 little boys? Not too much longer until there is another little boy to add to the mix. And...there will be ONE girl added to the group in June. Can't wait for these 2 little ones to be here!

13 Months

Jackson is 13 months old! Here's what he's up to these days:

• says mama, dada, nana (banana), kiki - sounds more like ti-ti (kitty)


• walks pretty quickly when holding on to us


• loves to push things around the house


• when he runs into the wall while pushing something, he'll walk around to the other side to push it in the other direction
  
• starting to eat more and more different types of food


• still loves to read


• likes to play, "I'm going to get you!"


• plays peek-a-boo
• points at EVERYTHING


• loves to get into any closet, drawer, or cabinet


• enjoys playing in piles of clothes


• loves to play outside, especially in the grass and rocks


• puts phones and remotes up to his ear like he's talking on the phone
• tries to comb his own hair
• will try to put sunglasses on his head

I feel like he knows SO much more than we realize. It's so much fun to see all the things he's picking up these days.

Before I Was A Mom...

This was in the church bulletin this morning:

Before I Was A Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Tubes!

Jackson had tubes put in his ears today. We were really hoping to avoid them but after having ear infections on and off since November, constant fluid in his ears, and hearing loss we decided it was time. He has brand new fluid free ears now!

Jackson before surgery. He was nice and happy thanks to the medicine that makes the babies calm and loopy before going under. We felt bad for laughing at our little boy before surgery but it was pretty darn funny! He could barely hold his head up.

We came home and Jackson took a two hour nap. He was good as new.

Just A Few Pictures

Jackson loves to dig in the dirt and mulch in our flower beds. He also LOVES to pick up the rocks and play with them. We are constantly having to pull them away from his mouth.



Jackson's Grandpa Bob seems to be concerned that Jackson will be too much of a city boy so we have to reassure him that he does like the dirt too. :-)

Laine's parents were kind enough to babysit Jackson so that we could go eat dinner together. When we got home and I went in to check on him I couldn't resist taking this picture.
