Hello Out There!

I haven't been a good blogger lately. Things have been SUPER busy around here. Work has been hectic and Jackson has been keeping us very busy.

Night times are getting a little tricky. Jackson wants to bring about 10 different things with him when he rocks with me and then he wants to have them all in bed with him. He is definitely starting to stall the bedtime process, running in and out of the room picking out things he wants to take to bed with him. We changed his bed time to a little later because it was becoming obvious that he didn't need quite as much sleep.

I have started giving Jackson his haircuts. I decided it was something I could do to save a little money. His hair grows so fast! We bought a hair trimming kit that came with instructions. This is his second haircut. It's a little shorter than before and I can definitely see some errors.

I wrote down what I used last time but got a little messed up. I was supposed to use the light purple (no. 6). Instead I used the dark purple (no. 2). Oops! Laine and I were laughing as we noticed all the mistakes I was making. I figure what's the worst that can happen? He will have a bad haircut - he'll never know!

Baby #2 is another reason I haven't been blogging much! That's right, Jackson is going to be a big brother. I'm 15 1/2 weeks along. Luckily I'm feeling normal again. Thank goodness! Along with our expanding family we have purchased a new car! I'm officially a mom now with my new mom-mobile!

My Camry has been with me for 10 1/2 years. It has been a GREAT car. This is the first and only other car I've ever bought with my very own money. I remember how proud I was to get it. I was a few months into my first year of teaching. It was so much nicer than anything I'd ever driven before. I'm going to miss this car!
In other news, Jackson is being a little toot these days! Last summer I read "Love and Logic for Early Childhood." I am planning to start reading it again as a refresher. I need some help! He's hitting, biting, and throwing food everywhere. He's pushing the limits a lot. The funny thing is that the other day his teacher asked me if he cries much at home. I told her that he did and that he threw some pretty good fits. She told me he never cries at school and was so well mannered. She said he obeys all the time and always helps clean up. She was just surprised that he is the youngest in the class but followed the rules so well. She feels like he understands a lot and is able to keep up well. That made me happy - at least he's good at school! :-)
Other than that, he's great to be around. He is picking up new words every day and starting to put two words together. He has SO much energy! It's exhausting. He wakes up saying, "outside" and would absolutely live out there if we'd let him. This boy is ALL BOY!
We are on spring break so hopefully I will have more pictures this week.

OMG, I can't believe you got a new car and I didn't know about it! How exciting! I can't wait to see it tomorrow. You guys have been busy! I think his hair cut looks great. I want the name of the kit you got and the website. I would love to save $35 every 4-6 weeks! :) And yes I had to laugh out loud when I saw his crib. That totally cracks me up. I think it's all about him being independent and that HE gets to decide what he takes to bed with him. Let me tell you Luke is going through some serious independent phases, it's making me crazy. We can catch up tomorrow.

We miss out on so much in such a short time! LOL! Jackson is a "busy man" as we say about Alex, too. I love that you are tackling the haircuts yourself!! Thank goodness we had Kathy in our lives or I'm sure Zack would have been scalped! It was bad enough the pitiful job I would do with Amanda's bangs until Kathy cut me off! I think you did a great job!!! Love the mom-mobile. And, can't wait to greet the newest member! Have a fun spring break!

So much to say! First, I completely relate to the stalling at bedtime. Connor has been doing that for years! We've used many different tactics but in any case bedtime has always been our most difficult challenge with him.

Second, so proud of you for doing Jackson's haircuts! I have been considering getting a kit for a long time. So let us know which one you are using and if you like it. I am all for this idea!!

Love the new Mommy mobile! What kind of car is that? You will love having all the room, and you'll definitely need it when #2 comes along!

We had someone speak at our MOPS group last week about Love and Logic. I had been doing some of the tactics on my own and I have to say that it definitely works with Connor. I still need to get the book because I have so much to learn, but you are going to be so much better off starting it early with Jackson!

So many fun updates! I loved this post.

I think Alex will have his hair cut at home, too. If Jerry doesn't pay to get his hair cut, he's most definitely not going to want to pay to get Alex's cut! Ha! I'll let that be one of daddy's chores. I'm only good at the neck part. Anyhoo, I think you did a great job, and I'm proud of you for taking that on. You're brave, especially since Jackson is such a busy body. And I didn't see any mistakes.

I'm glad to hear that Jackson's good at school. It will be interesting to see how he does when he transitions to staying home with you. I need to start reading the love and logic now so that I'm one step ahead when Alex gets to this phase.

I laughed to see all the "goodies" that Jackson carries to bed with him. He must not roll around too much!

Your new car is beautiful! I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine. I remember when you got the Camry. Was it your friend Drew who went with you to negotiate the price? That was so long ago. Ol' girl had a lot of good years in her. And she survived a lot - especially the blowout in the parking garage at my office on our way out of town to Houston! Ha! I'll never forget that for as long as I live. =)
